Principal in Green Star Environmental and responsible for managing the Lewisville office. Services include environmental consulting, environmental remediation, closure services, risk assessment, litigation support, acquisition, due diligence, and compliance issues.
Responsibilities include all technical and regulatory aspects of environmental projects in across the country, as well as project planning, budget management, and project execution.
Summary of Project Experience
Ohio Voluntary Action Program, Certified Professional
Managed the removal of two hydraulic lifts, completed a subsurface investigation, provided an addendum to a previous Phase I property assessment, and oversaw the site-specific risk assessment under the guidelines of the Ohio Voluntary Action Program for an inactive bus maintenance facility. This investigation included the addition of eight monitoring wells to the present monitoring well network and a number of additional borings to delineate the source area for halogenated carbon impacts in the soil and groundwater.
Texas Voluntary Cleanup Program
Project Manager in charge of the environmental investigation and closure at a 15-acre former aviation services facility. Subsurface impacts of chlorinated solvents and petroleum hydrocarbons were observed in both soil and groundwater. Delineation activities included investigation of the facility and 17 off-site properties. The solvent plumes were documented to migrate to a nearby recreational lake. The monitoring well network consisted of 38 monitoring wells installed in two water-bearing zones. The investigation included assessing geological conditions and vertically delineating the DNAPL impacts. A baseline risk assessment was necessary for the project to evaluate site-specific risks and exposure pathways. The risk assessment included an evaluation of chemicals of concern for soil and groundwater at the facility, an evaluation of current and future exposed populations, evaluation of potential ecological impacts to surface water, evaluation of groundwater impacts on surface water, calculation of site-specific risks and hazard quotients for the potentially exposed populations, and summarization of the risks.
Underground Storage Tank Projects
Managed initial abatement and site assessment activities at a UST facility for a major oil company. Field activities included recovery of over 3,000 gallons of free-phase gasoline utilizing various passive and active recovery techniques. Assessment activities included installation of a monitoring well network of ten wells to delineate subsurface impacts both on and off-site and remedial pilot testing to determine applicable remedial technologies including soil vapor extraction, air sparging, and groundwater pump and treat.
Project manager in charge of designing and installing a groundwater cut-off trench to prevent migration of dissolved-phase hydrocarbons from a major oil company’s facility. The cut-off trench consisted of a sparging system and monitoring points to monitor the effectiveness of the system. The project also included onsite assessment and development of a remediation system to address impacted soil and groundwater.
Project manager in charge of responding to a subsurface release of gasoline, which impacted local utilities. Work included initial abatement of free product and installation of a soil and groundwater remediation system. Assessment included installation of an on and offsite monitoring well network and design of a soil vapor survey to assess impacts to subsurface utilities. Remediation activities included installation of a soil vapor recovery system to control migration of vapors.
Summary of Professional Experience

Supervised a staff of one project manager, one environmental engineer, and two staff scientists. Responsibilities included supervising monitoring well installations, excavation of impacted soil and source areas, waste characterization and disposal of industrial and hazardous wastes, and preparation of remedial investigation reports. Managed underground storage tank projects including initial abatement activities, free product recovery, limited and comprehensive site assessments, remediation of impacted media, and closure activities.
Project Coordinator, KEI Consultants, Dallas, Texas
Managed client accounts and provided environmental services for major oil companies and financial institutions. Provided technical support and quality assurance/quality control for environmental projects involving industrial and hazardous wastes, NPDES permitting and compliance issues, subsurface investigations, underground storage tank (UST) removals, aquifer characterizations, soil vapor surveys, and the design and implementation of remediation systems. Represented clients in interactions with the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC) and other regulatory agencies concerning environmental issues and regulations.
Project Coordinator, KEI Consultants, Inc., San Antonio, Texas
Coordinated, managed, and conducted field investigation activities for UST closures/removals and subsurface investigations for petroleum hydrocarbons and other various hazardous constituents. Coordinated emergency response operations for unauthorized releases of regulated substances. Assisted in the design and implementation of ex-situ bioremediation systems for the remediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated soil and groundwater. Conducted environmental site assessments including site visits, regulatory review, asbestos inspections, site history research, and report preparation.
